Love in the Wind
Jade & Wuping’s Storm-Chased Romance
There’s something magical about a love so young and bright it outshines even storm clouds. Jade and Wuping—quite possibly the most radiant, youthful couple I’ve ever photographed—took their vows in the sand at JW Marriott Phu Quoc, with the wind dancing through Jade’s veil like it, too, wanted to be part of their story.
For the first time I shot almost entirely with my 85mm for this one—stepping back to let their intimacy breathe, to catch the way Wuping’s hands trembled when he slid the ring onto Jade’s finger, the way she threw her head back laughing as the gusts nearly stole her bouquet. And oh, the emotion: tears clung to eyelashes, champagne flutes clinked through toasts that sounded more like joyful roars, and at one point, the entire bridal party spontaneously hugged in a squall of petals and salt air.
The weather? A drama of its own. With storms looming, plans pivoted by the minute—but the incredible team at The Sisters Planner Vietnam and the unflappable Hoa (a wedding planner who clearly works miracles) wove it all into something even more alive than the original vision.
Jade and Wuping, your day was a testament to what love does: it laughs at forecasts, rewrites scripts, and turns gusts into dance partners. Thank you for letting me document the kind of joy that gives the sky permission to weep—because nothing could dim your light.
